Universal Freezer Thermostat – K50-P1125 – 1200mm Capillary
The Universal Freezer Thermostat K50-P1125 is a mechanical cold-control thermostat designed for selected domestic chest freezers, upright freezers and compatible refrigeration cabinets. It senses temperature through its capillary tube and controls when the compressor switches on and off.
This thermostat is suitable for replacing an original freezer control that no longer maintains the selected temperature, prevents the compressor from starting or causes the compressor to run continuously. Compatibility must be confirmed by comparing the temperature range, capillary length, terminals, shaft and mounting arrangement with the original thermostat.
Product Features
- Replacement reference: K50-P1125 / K50-1125
- Part type: Mechanical freezer thermostat / cold control
- Primary application: Freezers
- Capillary tube length: approximately 1200mm
- Electrical configuration: 2 contacts
- Typical electrical rating: 6A at 250V AC
- Mechanical temperature adjustment through a control shaft
- Capillary sensing tube monitors the freezer temperature
- Controls compressor cut-in and cut-out operation
- Suitable for selected chest and upright freezers
- Generic aftermarket replacement component
Typical Temperature Specifications
- Cold-setting cut-out: approximately −18°C
- Cold-setting cut-in: approximately −9.5°C
- Warm-setting cut-in: approximately +8.5°C
Temperature specifications may vary slightly between manufacturers. Confirm the reference and values printed on the supplied thermostat or packaging before installation.
Common Symptoms This Part May Fix
- Freezer not cooling
- Compressor not switching on
- Compressor running continuously
- Freezer becoming excessively cold
- Freezer not reaching the selected temperature
- Temperature fluctuating excessively
- Freezer operating only on certain thermostat settings
- Temperature-control knob no longer regulating correctly
- Cooling cutting in and out intermittently
- Thermostat contacts not opening or closing correctly
Important Diagnostic Note
A freezer that does not cool does not automatically have a faulty thermostat. The compressor, start relay, overload protector, wiring, electronic controls and refrigeration system must also be inspected and tested.
If the compressor operates when the thermostat circuit is correctly bypassed for testing but does not operate through the thermostat, the original thermostat may be defective. Testing should be performed only by a suitably experienced technician.
Important Fitment Note
This is a universal-style freezer thermostat and is not suitable for every freezer. Before ordering, compare the K50-P1125 reference, temperature range, capillary length, terminal configuration, shaft shape, shaft length, mounting bracket and rotation direction with the original thermostat.
This thermostat should not be advertised as a general refrigerator thermostat. Its switching range is primarily intended for freezer-temperature applications.
Route the capillary tube in exactly the same position as the original. Never cut, crush, sharply bend or kink the capillary tube, as damage will permanently prevent the thermostat from operating correctly.
Transfer the electrical wires one terminal at a time and follow the terminal numbering on the original thermostat. Incorrect wiring may prevent cooling or cause the compressor to operate continuously.
Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply before installation.
