Universal Stove & Hob Energy Regulating Switch – Screw Mount – 7 Terminal
The Universal Screw-Mount Energy Regulating Switch is a replacement heat-control switch suitable for selected electric stoves, hobs, cookers and hotplates. It regulates the heat output of a compatible cooking plate by cycling the electrical supply on and off according to the selected control setting.
This version features a two-screw mounting arrangement, a 6mm control shaft and seven electrical connections. It is suitable for replacing a faulty switch that no longer regulates heat correctly, leaves the plate operating continuously or prevents the hotplate from heating.
Product Features
- Part type: Energy regulating switch / simmerstat / hotplate control switch
- Mounting type: Two-screw mount
- Control-shaft diameter: 6mm
- Electrical connection layout: 7 terminals
- Suitable for selected electric stoves, hobs and hotplates
- Regulates heat by cycling the cooking element on and off
- Suitable for replacing worn, burnt or unreliable heat-control switches
- Common alternative reference: SEKN3
- Generic aftermarket replacement component
Common Symptoms This Part May Fix
- Hotplate not heating
- Hotplate remaining on full heat
- Heat not adjusting between low and high settings
- Hotplate operating only on certain control positions
- Heating switching on and off unpredictably
- Control shaft loose, seized or damaged
- Switch arcing, buzzing or overheating
- Burnt or discoloured electrical terminals
- Control knob turning without regulating the heat
Important Diagnostic Note
A hotplate that does not heat correctly does not automatically have a faulty regulating switch. The cooking plate, heating element, wiring, terminal connectors and electrical supply must also be inspected and tested.
If the original switch has burnt or loose terminals, repair or replace the damaged wiring connectors before installing the new switch. Poor connections may quickly damage the replacement regulator.
Mounting Note
This version mounts using two screws and should not be confused with the nut-mounted regulating switch. Where appropriate, adapter reference 0000.052.601 may be used to convert the mounting arrangement to a nut-mount configuration.
The mounting adapter is not included unless specifically stated in the product listing.
Important Fitment Note
This is a universal-style energy regulator and is not suitable for every stove or hob. Before ordering, compare the 6mm shaft, shaft length, two-screw mounting holes, seven-terminal layout, body dimensions and original switch markings.
Similar-looking regulating switches may have different internal switching sequences or terminal assignments and are not automatically interchangeable.
Transfer the wires according to the terminal markings rather than relying only on their physical positions. Incorrect wiring may prevent the plate from operating or may cause it to remain continuously energised.
Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply before installation. Stove and hob electrical repairs should be performed by a suitably experienced technician.
