Product Description:

Universal Flux-Coated Silver Brazing Rod

The Universal Flux-Coated Silver Brazing Rod is a brazing filler rod designed for selected refrigeration, air-conditioning, plumbing and general workshop applications. The rod is coated with brazing flux, helping reduce oxidation and improve filler-metal flow while the joint is heated.

This rod is suitable for joining compatible copper, brass and selected steel components where a silver-bearing brazing alloy is required. The built-in flux coating offers a convenient all-in-one solution, reducing the need to apply separate powdered or paste flux during suitable repairs.

Product Features

  • Product type: Flux-coated silver brazing rod
  • Silver-bearing brazing filler alloy
  • Pre-coated with brazing flux
  • Helps reduce oxidation during heating
  • Encourages the filler alloy to flow into the joint
  • Suitable for selected copper, brass and steel components
  • Suitable for refrigeration and air-conditioning repairs
  • Suitable for plumbing and general workshop brazing
  • Convenient alternative to applying separate flux
  • Helps produce strong, neat brazed joints when used correctly

Common Applications

  • Refrigerator sealed-system repairs
  • Freezer pipework repairs
  • Air-conditioner copper tubing connections
  • Copper-to-brass joints
  • Copper-to-steel joints where the alloy is suitable
  • Compressor connection repairs
  • Filter-drier installation
  • Service-valve and fitting connections
  • Selected plumbing and heating-system repairs
  • General workshop brazing

Directions for Use

Clean the joint surfaces thoroughly before brazing. Assemble the components with the correct joint clearance and heat the joint evenly. Apply the flux-coated rod once the base metals have reached the correct brazing temperature.

Allow the filler alloy to flow through the joint by capillary action. After cooling, remove all remaining flux residue using the appropriate cleaning method, as leftover residue may attract moisture or cause corrosion.

Important Usage Note

The silver content, working temperature and metal compatibility may differ between brazing rods. Confirm that the supplied rod is suitable for the base metals and intended application before use.

This rod is not automatically suitable for aluminium. Aluminium brazing requires a compatible aluminium filler alloy and flux.

Use in a well-ventilated area and wear suitable gloves, eye protection and respiratory protection where required. Avoid breathing brazing fumes and follow the safety instructions supplied with the product.
