Defy Oven Thermostat – 067616 – 0°C to 230°C
The Defy Oven Thermostat 067616 is a replacement mechanical temperature controller designed for selected Defy ovens, stoves and cookers. It monitors the oven temperature through its capillary sensing probe and switches the heating circuit on and off to maintain the temperature selected by the user.
This thermostat is suitable for replacing an original control that no longer regulates the oven temperature correctly, causes the oven to overheat or prevents the heating elements from switching on. It has a nominal control range of 0°C to 230°C.
Product Features
- OEM/reference number: 067616
- Part type: Mechanical oven thermostat / temperature control
- Nominal temperature range: 0°C to 230°C
- Control-shaft diameter: approximately 6mm
- Shaft length: approximately 25mm
- Capillary length: approximately 2000mm
- Electrical connections: Earth plus 2 switched terminals
- Mounting arrangement: 2-screw mounting
- Suitable for selected Defy ovens, stoves and cookers
- Also used in selected compatible Beko and Grundig appliances
- Controls power to the heating circuit according to the selected temperature
- Replacement for faulty, inaccurate or electrically damaged thermostats
Common Symptoms This Part May Fix
- Oven not heating
- Oven overheating beyond the selected temperature
- Oven temperature considerably lower than the selected setting
- Heating elements running continuously
- Heating elements not switching on
- Large temperature fluctuations during cooking
- Food burning despite the thermostat being set correctly
- Oven taking unusually long to reach temperature
- Thermostat contacts operating intermittently
- Temperature-control shaft damaged or seized
Important Diagnostic Note
Incorrect oven temperature does not automatically indicate a faulty thermostat. The heating elements, selector switch, wiring, terminals, control knob and electrical supply must also be inspected and tested.
Check that the thermostat sensing probe is securely mounted in its correct position inside the oven. A loose, damaged or incorrectly positioned probe may cause inaccurate temperature control.
Important Fitment Note
Before ordering, confirm the 067616 reference and compare the 0°C to 230°C range, shaft dimensions, shaft profile, capillary length, probe design, mounting holes and electrical terminals with the original thermostat.
Similar-looking oven thermostats may have different temperature ranges, contact ratings, shaft lengths or switching configurations and are not automatically interchangeable.
Route the capillary and sensing probe in exactly the same position as the original. Do not cut, crush, sharply bend or kink the capillary tube, as damage will permanently prevent the thermostat from operating correctly.
Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply before installation. Oven thermostat replacement should be performed by a suitably experienced appliance technician.
