Universal Commercial Refrigeration Compressor Start Relay
The Universal Commercial Refrigeration Compressor Start Relay is an electromechanical starting device suitable for selected single-phase hermetic compressors used in commercial refrigerators, freezers and cooling equipment.
The relay temporarily energises the compressor start winding when power is applied. As the compressor reaches operating speed and the motor current changes, the relay disconnects the start winding and allows the compressor to continue running through its normal run circuit.

Important Diagnostic Note
A compressor that hums or repeatedly trips the overload does not automatically have a faulty start relay. The compressor windings, thermal overload, start capacitor, run capacitor, supply voltage, wiring and refrigeration-system pressures must also be checked.
A mechanically seized or electrically damaged compressor may immediately overload or damage the replacement relay. Test the compressor winding resistance, insulation to earth and starting current before installation.
