Defy Fridge Defrost Element – 320mm – 220V 320W
The Defy Fridge Defrost Element – 320mm is a replacement heater designed for selected Defy frost-free refrigerators and fridge-freezers. It heats the evaporator during the automatic defrost cycle, melting accumulated ice so that air can circulate correctly through the cooling system.
A failed defrost element may allow heavy ice to build up around the evaporator, restricting airflow and causing the refrigerator compartment to become warm even though the freezer or compressor may still be operating.
Product Features
- Part type: Refrigerator defrost heater / defrost element
- Element length: approximately 320mm
- Operating voltage: 220V AC
- Power rating: 320W
- Suitable for selected Defy frost-free refrigerators and fridge-freezers
- U-shaped tubular heating-element design
- Installed around or beneath the evaporator assembly
- Melts frost and ice during the automatic defrost cycle
- Helps restore proper airflow through the evaporator
- Replacement for an open-circuit, burnt or damaged defrost heater
Common Symptoms This Part May Fix
- Heavy ice building up around the evaporator
- Refrigerator compartment becoming warm
- Freezer cooling while the fridge section remains too warm
- Evaporator fan unable to move air through the ice blockage
- Appliance requiring frequent manual defrosting
- Water not draining correctly after the defrost cycle
- Defrost element testing open circuit
- Visible burning, cracking or corrosion on the original element
- Cooling performance gradually reducing over several days
Important Diagnostic Note
Ice buildup does not automatically indicate a faulty defrost element. The defrost thermostat, thermal fuse, temperature sensor, wiring, electronic control board and drain system must also be inspected and tested.
Test the original element for electrical continuity and inspect all series-connected safety components before installing the replacement.
Important Fitment Note
Before ordering, compare the approximately 320mm element length, 220V 320W rating, tubular shape, terminal leads, insulation sleeves, mounting position and electrical connections with the original component.
Similar Defy refrigerators may use longer or differently shaped defrost elements. The appliance model number alone should be supported by a physical comparison wherever possible.
Ensure that the replacement element does not touch plastic liners, wiring or components that were not in contact with the original heater. Refit all clips, shields and thermal safety devices in their correct positions.
Disconnect the refrigerator from the electrical supply before installation.
