Universal Fridge-Freezer Thermostat – K59-L1102 – 1200mm Capillary

The Universal Fridge-Freezer Thermostat K59-L1102 is a replacement mechanical cold-control thermostat designed for selected combined fridge-freezers. It monitors the evaporator temperature through its capillary sensing tube and controls when the compressor switches on and off.

This thermostat is commonly used in two-door fridge-freezers with an automatic-defrost cooling system. It is suitable for replacing an original thermostat that no longer regulates temperature correctly, prevents the compressor from starting or causes the appliance to run continuously.

Product Features

  • Replacement reference: K59-L1102
  • Part type: Mechanical fridge-freezer thermostat / cold control
  • Capillary tube length: approximately 1200mm
  • Terminal type: 6.3mm spade terminals
  • Suitable for selected combined fridge-freezers
  • Commonly used in automatic-defrost fridge-freezers
  • Mechanical temperature adjustment using a control shaft
  • Capillary sensing tube monitors evaporator temperature
  • Controls compressor cut-in and cut-out operation
  • Generic aftermarket replacement component

Typical Temperature Range

  • Warm cut-out: approximately −11°C
  • Cold cut-out: approximately −26°C to −27°C
  • Typical cut-in temperature: approximately +3.5°C

Temperature specifications may vary slightly between generic manufacturers. Check the markings or supplied specification sheet before installation.

Common Symptoms This Part May Fix

  • Fridge-freezer not cooling
  • Compressor not switching on
  • Compressor running continuously
  • Fridge compartment becoming too cold
  • Food freezing inside the refrigerator compartment
  • Freezer not reaching the selected temperature
  • Temperature changing excessively between cycles
  • Appliance operating only on certain thermostat settings
  • Temperature-control knob no longer regulating correctly
  • Cooling operating intermittently

Important Diagnostic Note

A fridge-freezer that does not cool does not automatically have a faulty thermostat. Inspect the compressor, start relay, overload protector, wiring, defrost system and refrigerant circuit before replacing the thermostat.

If the compressor operates when the thermostat contacts are temporarily bridged, but does not operate through the thermostat, the thermostat may be defective. Testing should be performed only by a suitably experienced technician.

Important Fitment Note

This is a universal-style thermostat and is not suitable for every refrigerator or freezer. It is primarily intended for selected combined fridge-freezers using a compatible automatic-defrost thermostat system.

Before ordering, compare the K59-L1102 reference, capillary length, temperature range, number and position of terminals, mounting points, control-shaft shape and shaft length with the original thermostat.

Route the capillary tube in exactly the same position as the original. Do not cut, sharply bend, crush or kink the capillary tube, as damage will permanently prevent the thermostat from operating correctly.

Transfer the electrical wires one terminal at a time and ensure that each wire is connected to the correct numbered terminal. Incorrect wiring may cause continuous compressor operation or prevent the appliance from cooling.

Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply before installation.
