Universal Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat / Clixon
The Universal Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat / Clixon is a replacement temperature-controlled switch designed for selected refrigerators and fridge freezers that use a conventional automatic defrost system. It is normally fitted directly to the evaporator tubing, where it monitors the evaporator temperature during the defrost cycle.
The thermostat allows power to reach the defrost heater while the evaporator is cold and switches the heater circuit off once the required temperature has been reached. This helps melt accumulated frost while preventing the evaporator compartment from becoming excessively warm during defrosting.
